Driver improvement programs?
Promoting traffic safety has been the cornerstone of The Safety Council’s education and training initiatives. These programs are designed to encourage safe and courteous driving habits by enhancing an individual’s defensive driving abilities. Through an agreement with the State of Florida, the Safety Council sponsors defensive driving courses for traffic violators who do not want points on their licenses.
The Safety Council also offers a variety of driving improvement programs for individuals, commercial drivers, truck drivers, mature drivers, motorcycle operators, one-on-one driving lessons and high school driver education. The Safety Council provides the Drug Alcohol Traffic Awareness [DATA] course required by Florida law since 1990.
The DATA Program was created based upon DUI Offender suggestions on how to prevent future DUIs and is required for all fist-time drivers’ license applicants of Florida.

DUI programs?
Established in 1973, the DUI Programs are aimed at changing the behavior of the impaired driver, therefore reducing the risk of future DUI related arrests, injuries and deaths. The programs are designed to educate and facilitate attitude behavior changes in the impaired driver, therefore reducing the risk of future DUI related arrests, injuries, deaths. State Certified Evaluators and Instructors are responsible for helping each client to understand the issues and factors related to chemical dependency, the steps necessary to overcome the dependency, and how to retain their driver’s license. The DUI Program provides services in Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Brevard Counties.

Workplace safety?
The Safety Council provides a wide variety of safety courses and seminars designed to meet OSHA Standards in the Workplace. These courses and seminars are designed to be interactive, providing opportunities for participants to share ideas, problems and solutions. In addition to the training courses and seminars, the Safety Council also sponsors safety and education forums for the community. Youth-related programs?
Recognizing a need in the community for driver improvement and other courses to meet the needs of young people, including youthful offenders, the Safety Council provides courses targeted at the issues and problems facing the 15- to 25-year age group.

Public education & awareness?
Working within the community, the Safety Council promotes safety, crash and mishap prevention through its Speakers Bureau, literature and multimedia public awareness campaigns.

How is the Safety Council funded?
As a private, not-for-profit and non-governmental organization, the Safety Council received funding through individual and corporate membership, safety product sales, course fees, grants and contributions. DUI Program Fees are established statewide by the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles and must pay solely for the provision of DUI Program Services to the students.

How much does a course cost?
The Safety Council is a not-for-profit organization. Every effort is made to insure the cost of individual programs is set at the lowest prices possible. Fees are established based upon reasonable and customary costs associated directly with each curriculum development and presentation of the course. Some program enrollment fees and rescheduling fees are established and controlled by the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles.
